Design

Doyle Sails operates a central design team consisting of highly qualified sailors who each bring different strengths to the team.

Richard Bouzaid is head of design within the Doyle group and leads the innovation and research for the Doyle design team. As team coordinator and head designer, Richard oversees and coordinates design team activities, R&D efforts and signs off on final designs.

Richard has been involved in sailmaking for 20 years and has been part of Winning Whitbread/Volve Race and America's Cup teams.

Richard has also been sail designer and sail coordinator for many one design and maxi yacht programmes that have been succesful in major offshore and local events.

The design tools we are using are amongst the most advanced 3D modeling and airflow programmes available on the market.

Analysis programmes available

Specifics such as projected windrange, crossover charts and characteristics of an individual sail can be modeled and predicted prior to the sail even being fitted to the boat. This makes assesment of the racing and cruising inventories more than just an estimation or guess - which is what many other sailmakers do. The design team has the resources of all members of the Doyle group, which encompasses 81 sailmaking operations worldwide.
